BEFORE
Low-pitched roof accentuates the long, plain front. Screened porch is functional but not particularly inviting.
AFTER
New porch very successfully redefines the roofline while adding strong 'curb appeal'. Porch roof intersects main house at the same ridgeline while retaining the relatively low pitch of the existing roof. These approaches gracefully incorporate the new porch into the overall structure, while also providing a warm and welcoming new face for this home.
CLOSER VIEW
Makes you want to pull up a chair and take a break, doesn't it!
VIEW from PORCH
Brick piers, square posts, and low knee wall are all Craftsman style features. Balustrade above knee wall keeps the porch open and airy while Spool Spandrels mimic this repeating pattern at the post tops. Spandrel Brackets allow use of a relatively deep Spandrel without limiting headroom. They also provide a subtle arched effect between posts.
