Sidewall Cedar Shingles
Machine Grooved (R&R)
Western Red Cedar Sidewall Shingles
These premium Shingles, made from kiln-dried Western Red Cedar, are for sidewall application only. Butt ends are sawed smooth at right angles to the side edges for a straight bottom line (rebutted) and each shingle is trimmed so side edges are parallel (rejointed). Thus, they are also known as R&R Sidewall Shingles.

Sidewall Cedar Shingles
One face is machine grooved (combed) to provide texture. The other face is smooth. Historically, cedar shingle siding has been used for Colonial, Shingle-style, Victorian, Rustic, Ranch, Bungalow, and Contemporary style homes.

Machine Grooved Cedar Shingles Shingle Measurements
Each Machine Grooved R&R Shingle is approximately 17-1/2" long. Widths vary from 4" to 11". These premium Red Cedar Shingles are slightly less than 1/2" thick at the butt end. They may be stained, painted or left natural. Installation instructions are on the box. Also, see Staining and Finishing Cedar Shingles.

Coverage and Exposure
For single course installations, at the recommended 8" maximum exposure, each carton of Machine Grooved R&R Cedar Shingles covers 57 square feet of wall surface. Double course installations are required for exposures greater than 8". At the maximum allowed exposure of 14", each of the two layers of a double course installatiion will cover 100 square feet. Thus, one carton will cover 50 square feet of wall when installed as a double course at the maximum 14" exposure. See Table below.

By the Carton or by the Linear Foot
If you don’t need a whole carton you may order our Cedar Sidewall Shingles by the foot in random widths. The quantity you order will be the total running feet we will ship. Because R & R Cedar Sidewall Shingles vary in width, we will send enough shingles, when laid edge to edge, to equal the linear footage ordered. Square foot coverage will depend on the installed exposure.       CA Resident WARNING

Samples
Use Carton/Foot/Sample drop down below to order one or more 4" - 6" wide Samples.
