Most people screen their porches for utilitarian reasons. With a little advanced planning you can insure your screened porch is not merely functional, but also very beautiful!
Here's a great example of a well designed screened porch that uses Vintage Woodworks decorative items for maximum impact.
Plain Porch Posts permitted easier installation of screening inside the decorative elements. Job-site made screen panels have wood frames and are screwed into place between the Posts. This permits easy removal for cleaning or winter storage.
CLOSE-UP
Our standard P-2 Handrail, SR2 Subrail, and Sloped-top Bottom Rail facilitate proper water control. Bottom Rail was screwed to a pressure treated 2x4 base which was bolted to the concrete floor. Aluminum Base Mounting Plates under the Posts provide a water escape route for blowing rain.
Classical Urn Sawn Balusters complete the elegant area below the Handrail while 7" Ball & Dowel Spandrels and Arch Brackets #1234 highlight the upper area. Screen Door #7102 finishes this wonderful screened porch to absolute perfection!
Particularly for traditional-style homes, a screened porch, if not properly designed, can appear inappropriately modern. The same elements used to decorate screened doors will work wonders for a screened porch! Brackets and other decorative items will soften the lines and introduce detail to an otherwise stark screened porch on any home.
Don't settle for a plain screened porch. Most of our decorative items can be easily incorporated into a functional screened porch design. Indeed, the porch of your dreams can be screened!
