Roof Pitch Calculation


Roof Pitch (roof angle or roof slope) is easy to determine. Here are two ways for calculating roof pitch.

Roof Pitch Defined
Roof pitch is simply the number of inches the roof rises vertically for every 12 inches it extends horizontally. For example, a roof that rises 8 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal measurement has an 8 over 12 (8/12) roof pitch.
