Several strong design elements are combined perfectly to create this absolutely charming cottage. The wonderful flowers, steep roof, and brick driveway all enhance the cottage atmosphere.
CLOSE-UP A
The most dominant feature, of course, is the tower. It is quite large relative to the overall size of this cottage, lending an almost story book feeling to this scene. Note how its roof flares out at the eave, which is supported by hefty Corbels mounted in the tall space above the transom windows. All these design features add to the already substantial height and dominance of the tower. The steeply-pitched porch roof works wonderfully well to tie tower and main house into an enchanting, captivating work of architectural art!

The porch was built with plenty of headroom - perfect for the oversized Gingerbread Trim! Note how the Post Face Brackets add an important Third Dimension to this area of the porch.
