Text for Adding Depth Popup window:
Adding depth to your new porch increases the cost of your decorative items very little compared to the square footage added to the porch. For example, to increase the depth of an 8 foot deep porch by 2 feet adds more than 25% to the usable space on the porch. Increasing a 6 foot deep porch by 2 feet adds over 33%. However, these changes only add a small amount to the cost of your decorative items, since only the items between the Posts at each end of the porch are increasing in length. Since porches are typically much longer than they are deep, a relatively small increase in depth increases usable space much more quickly than it increase your cost of decorative items. Obviously, floor joists, flooring, rafters and roofing will be more, but the labor to install these will be almost the same!
