CATALOG REQUEST
(Use to tell customer we no longer have a printed Catalog.)
Hi ,
Thanks for requesting a catalog. Unfortunately, we had to discontinue printing a paper catalog several years ago. We were getting very few requests for printed Catalogs so it was not economical to continue printing. Also, we are able to offer a much larger selection of products and to provide vastly more information at our website than we could in a paper catalog. Thanks for your understanding!
You may view and order all of our Products online at
http://www.vintagewoodworks.com/products.html.
Product Usage Photos are online at

Each picture is a link to their product category and more photos.
If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. We'd love to help with your projects in any way we can.
Thanks,

YouTube PORCH FLOOR VIDEO
We'd love to help you in any way we can with your Porch Project!
We're very excited to announce our Porch Floor Video Series on YouTube. You may view online at: http://www.youtube.com/user/vwwtv
We have 5 videos posted in this series!
AZEK Brand PVC is by far your best choice in porch flooring. Low-maintenance surface resists stains, moisture, mold, mildew, scuffs, scratching, and fading.
Over the life of the product it is also your least expensive choice!
We also carry Cellular PVC Beadboard Planks ... perfect for use on your porch ceiling!
Very Cost Effective! Choose from factory-tough White or Sky Blue, or paint another color. Either way, it looks like traditional painted wood Beadboard.
TEMPORARY ROOF/COLUMN SUPPORTS Thanks for the questions. Glad you liked our porch flooring video series!
We assume your railing is only attached to the columns (perhaps with kickspace blocks under the bottom rail.) If so, you should be able to replace the front joists and flooring without removing the columns and railings. We also assume your columns sit atop the existing porch flooring.
The basic procedure will be to temporarily support the roof structure at each column with a 2x brace running from beneath the beam above each column to the nearest point in the yard possible, while missing the handrailing and front edge of porch flooring. Since you will be replacing the front floor joists, you will need a bit more clearance for this.
Obviously, it is critical these temporary supports be securely attached at their tops and staked at their bottoms to keep them securely in place. They will, as a set, support the weight of the porch roof, ceiling (if any), columns, and railings. For this reason, it will be best if each brace is a "stiff back", that is, two 2x4's nailed or screwed at right angles to each other. This will prevent dangerous bowing of the bracing.
To actually raise all Columns slightly above the flooring, you will need to ensure each column is securely attached at it's top. This attachment has to be secure enough to not only support the weight of the column, but the railings that are attached to each column. Therefore, before you begin actual lifting, you should secure this attachment by screwing 1x4's into the face of the column several feet from the top and then over at a 45 degree angle to the beam above the column. Do this on both sides of each column.
Next lift the porch roof structure very slightly at only one column - just enough to relieve pressure at the bottom of the column. If you are lucky the column bottom is no longer securely fastened to the existing porch flooring.
You can test the attachment by trying to pass a hand saw blade or other thin, stiff item completely under the column.
If the column bottom is still attached to the flooring, you should be able to use a reciprocating saw fitted with a long blade to cut through the fastening hardware. Do this by running the blade along the top of the floor all the way under the column.
Once the column is completely free of the flooring, attach the stiff back 2x brace and relieve jack pressure. If the columns settles so much you can no longer "wiggle" its bottom just slightly, you will need to re-jack it slightly more and reposition the brace.
You can now proceed to raise and brace all columns. If you have a long porch you may be able to replace the front joists in sections to avoid having to raise all columns at the same time.
It is likely the existing porch flooring is attached to the joists below the columns. However, you should be able to remove the old flooring under the columns by first cutting it away close to the column bases with a circular saw and then, using a reciprocating saw fitted with an appropriately long blade, cutting the flooring loose by running the blade between flooring and joists.
Since we do not sell wood porch flooring, and since there are multiple considerations for installation of same, we prefer you ask the company you buy your wood flooring from your question about spacing.
Otherwise, please let us know if you have other questions we can help with... and good luck on your project.
