The single-plane, shed-style roof is the easiest
to build but also the least interesting.
Additionally, it creates somewhat awkward ends. If the ends are left open, the entire porch is perhaps cheapened. If they are enclosed, there is a triangle to deal with. Enclosing this triangle with cut shingles is a nice solution (see bottom photo). However, it's not difficult to build a hipped-roof and avoid these triangular ends.
