Window placement and headroom limit the use of decorative items at the top of this small porch. A low porch eave can also create a cramped feeling.

While more involved initially, it is often best to tie the new porch eave in at the same height as the existing house eave. This typically means the porch roof will need to tie into the existing roof, rather than start below it.
