Many porches with single-plane roofs like this are built with open ends above the tops of the posts. Defining the bottom of this triangular space with horizontal "beams" allowed Brackets to be installed at the ends of this porch. That's important, because Porch Brackets, if used across the front of a porch, should always be installed at the ends as well, for a more complete and finished look.
The owners wrote: "I've enclosed some photos of the many ways I have used your products to enhance my home inside and out, without overdoing it on a little concrete block house. I love Vintage Woodworks!"
