Our Polyurethane Newel Posts Advantages

The permanent bond between polyurethane and steel core creates a solid-feeling, solid-sounding Newel that is almost impossible to distinguish from a solid wood Post. The outer surface looks and feels like professionally painted smooth wood, but with all of the maintenance and longevity advantages of high density polyurethane.

Unlike slick-surfaced competitors, our Poly Newels can be painted (but come with a factory-applied premium white finish). Use a good quality water or oil based paint and avoid dark colors (those with L value of 56 to 0, where 100 is white and 0 is black.) Better yet, paint will last much longer on polyurethane than on wood because there is much less expansion and contraction to break down the paint surface.

There's no compromise here. Our Polyurethane Newel Posts are superior in every way to painted wood Newels and other synthetic Newels!
